1: Get Started with Online Application Services

2: Decide where you need to go for your particular situation

Changing your name on your Ontario driving licence can be done in many different ways. In some situations, you can make the change online or via mail. However, for the most part you will need to visit your local ServiceOntario Centre. Be sure to be aware of which way you are eligible.

3: Via a local MTO, or ServiceOntario Centre

If you prefer to access Ontario driver's licence services in person or your specific needs require an in-person visit, most, if not all, driver licence services can be handled at a physical Ministry of Transportation, or ServiceOntario Centre. Changing Your Name on Your Licence

As life changes, sometimes we need to make changes to our personal identification. Name changes often occur due to marriage, divorce or personal choice. To change your name on your Ontario driving licence, the process is quite simple.

If you have decided to change your name, you must notify ServiceOntario within six days of making the change. There is an exception though, and this is when you change your name due to marriage. The six-day rule does not apply, and you can wait to make the change until you have an original marriage certificate in-hand.
